We have monthly demonstrations open to the public on the 3rd Wednesday of the month that feature popular and well-respected artists from New England. Please visit our Events page to view upcoming demonstrations.
We also offer workshops taught by artists working with various media. Many of our workshops are taught by artists who have demonstrated for us. Please view the Events/Workshop page for more information.
Three different art shows are held by us each year. We have a Budding Artists Show in the spring that displays the artwork of children from kindergarten through high school. It’s a very popular show and the children are very talented. We also have a Spring Art Show, which features a plant sale and floral interpretations, and a Fall Art Show. The Spring and Fall shows are open to everyone.
TAA also offers a $500 scholarship to a deserving senior student or college student furthering his/her education in an art related field. The money will be awarded to the winning student after submission of his/her first quarter grades. Applications are sent out to area schools in late January. Interested individuals may also download a form to be sent back to TAA no later than April 1, 2012. Applicants will be called in late April to have our committee review their portfolios.
The Education Committee is always working to set up classes for children, teens, and adults. Drawing, watercolor, oil, and acrylic painting will most likely be offered. Other classes we are considering are cartooning, scratchboard, pastels, and colored pencils. These possibilities will depend on student interest and teacher availablity. There is an oil / drawing class taught by Tiago Finato on Thursdays year round. There are two weekly classes offered year round and taught by Susan Boerman. These classes feature decorative and traditional painting with acrylics. Please visit the Events/Classes page for further information on all classes.
As always, we welcome new members. If you are interested in joining us please download a membership form on our Membership page.
This program is supported by a grant from the Taunton Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
